95538f6949 First attempt at generating and using .h files from bitmaps using bmp2rb. The .h files are generated for both the core bitmaps and the plugins, but are only currently being used in the core.

2ea75fdbec Replace the range_limit lookup table with an inline function, asm optimised for SH1 and coldfire. Slight speedup on SH1, up to 15% speedup on coldfire. Saves almost 1KB.

cc6f37b8d8 "Next/Previous jpeg from within the JPEG viewer" addition by Alexander Spyridakis, modified a bit by me 
Also tries to use the plugin buffer instead of the audio buffer on the platforms with more than 130kb plugin buffer size (thus not stopping the music playback). If the free buffer from the plugin buffer is not enough, asks for stopping playback. Needs a little more work, but seems stable as it is.

413da2a3d9 Rework PCM buffer 
* Linked list instead of static array buffer pointers
* Variable sized chunks
* Improved mix handling
* Reduction in duplicated code
* Reduced IRAM usage w/o sacrificing performance
* Converted to almost entirely unsigned math
* Add pause function to reduce pcm_* exposure to playback.

This WILL break playback on the iPod until linuxstb makes a followup commit.

14cfc65414 1. Updated battery_bench plugin: 
1.1 Don't use the plugin_get_buffer() so the playlist viewer should work with this plugin running;
1.2 Added new columns for charger inserted, charging, usb powered;
1.3 Some other small improvements
2. charger_inserted() again returns only the AC/DC charger state on H3x0, doesn't include the usb state;
3. Some ifdefs corrected in power.c and power.h;

1ca465ae77 Made lots of keys' code depend on the actual definition of the key instead 
of the target keypad define. Makes the code more readable and it makes it
easier to enable/disable certain features. Killed the warning for X5 at the
same time.

751d199587 Adjusted the bitmap build to run make in the bitmap directories 
unconditionally to better detect updated dependencies. Previously, new files
and modified images were not properly detected and didn't cause rebuilds.

0d55854fd6 Cube: Solid greyscale mode is now supported on Archos Recorders and Ondios, using the grayscale library. The grayscale library gets switched on & off as needed when changing the display mode.

e8f8d9e7e9 Initial support for iPod color and video. The Nano has a 176x132 LCD, which is the first colour LCD smaller than the gameboy's 160x144 display - so it needs work to skip scanlines. Button handling still needs more work - only up/down/left/right/start are currently mapped. Code is removed from IRAM due to 'relocation truncated to fit: R_ARM_PC24' errors.

137fb6cb9f Karl Kurbjun's patch #1407719: 
Here's another patch for rockboy that adds automatic frameskip (it's pretty
rough as I haven't figured out an accurate timer), fullscreen support on the
H300, and a bit of assembly and some IRAM stuff. I'm not sure if I'm doing the
IRAM stuff correct though as it doesn't seem to make much of a difference if
any. I've also added a statistics option that will show how many frames per
second the gameboy is seeing (not what the player is getting) and what the
frameskip is at. When you enable stats sometimes you have to go back into the
menu and then come out to clear erronous values.

137501b9ac The dependency generation for credits.c failed since it includes a file 
that does't exist when gcc -MM is used. Thus we do one more work-around that
creates the file before depedency generation and then removes it again
afterwards...

a36b1d4083 New plugin loader. Solves the crashes introduced with the .bss changes while keeping the small binary size. The model & api version check is now part of the plugin loader. Codecs are not yet adapted, but the old method still works for them. Simulator plugins are not (yet) version-checked. API version numbering restarted, as this is an all-new system. Uses the target ID from configure, so don't change that too often.

d1b6bb81b4 Remove the unnecessary IDATA_ATTR and LINE_ATTR #defines. Introduce usage of IBSS_ATTR instead of incorrect IDATA_ATTR. Remove LINE_ATTR use, since this is a no-win when using IRAM. Make encoder truncate existing files. Make use of post-increment addressing mode in MAC chains for to minimuse code size and gain some speed. Some minor assembler touchups. About 10% speedup in total.

abd9f83e92 Two new sections for IRAM usage: .irodata (selectable with the ICONST_ATTR attribute macro), allowing to put 'const' data into IRAM without causing a section type conflict, and .ibss (selectable with the IBSS_ATTR attribute macro) for uninitialised data. * Rockbox core: Adjusted the linker scripts and init code to not include the .ibss section in the binary, it is cleared instead. Saves ~500 bytes on archos and ~30KB on iriver. Codecs and plugins don't handle .ibss in a special way yet. * The init code properly handles empty sections now (except .stack, which should never be empty). * Unified the init code for SH1 and coldfire a bit.

69ffcd5356 Mandelbrot plugin: New fixed point routines, loosing a tiny bit of precision (3 bits), but way faster than before. Full precision routine uses the EMAC on coldfire. No more 64 bit arithmetics used except within the asm inlines.

af48260399 Modified the viewers.config syntax slightly. The name field should now include 
path of the plugin/viewer on target, but exclude the exension. Now the Sudoku
plugin acts as a normal plugin and a viewer at the same time.

33e935ce1d Added the "New" menu option. This allows you to manually enter and then save a new grid. Press the menu button when you have finished and enter the full path to save to including the .ss extension (e.g. /sudoku/new.ss).

cfb073c452 Coldfire: New timer handling on CPU frequency change, adjusting the prescaler on the fly, for both tick and user timer. Precondition is that the higher frequencies are integer multiples of the base: now NORMAL is 45 MHz and MAX is 124 MHz. Removes the need for applications with longer timer periods (>= 10 ms) to boost the CPU all the time, e.g. the grayscale lib. Timer counts are now always based on the base frequency (CPU_FREQ). * Adjusted the RAM refresh timers to the new frequencies (all frequencies for H100) * All: Fixed the tick timer count being off by one.

1a40e10933 H1x0: Changed lcd_blit() and the grayscale library to use the same internal format as on archos (1bpp). While the slowdown of the ISR is minimal (the intermediate buffers are in IRAM), the planar grayscale buffer takes only half the space for a given depth, and gray_update[_rect]() and unbuffered drawing/scrolling are faster because less data needs to be moved. It should also make porting of video.rock somewhat easier. * Archos recorders, Ondios: Some slight optimisations of the grayscale library.

99a0598c28 Major peakmeter rework: * Changed set/get functions for dbfs mode to bool type. * Removed performance setting, leaving (slightly adapted) high performance mode only. * Refresh rate is always 20 Hz now. * Readout doesn't do an extra (hidden) peek, should allow for slightly better clip detection. * Brought back high performance peakmeter for recording. Peakmeter stops hogging the CPU when the disk is spinning; this is enough to avoid the performance problem when saving data. * Optimisations, code cleanup and code policeing. * (iriver) Reduced CPU load of peakmeter by not calculating excessive overlaps. ** Bumped config block version, so save your settings before upgrading.

0a0be62b8d reverted the fixed 4 bytes write, made the read code more reliable, use 
fdprintf() when writing the highscore, add newline after score in the saved

3d73790ab7 Heavily improved mandelbrot plugin: (1) Calculation now uses 64bit fixed point arithmetics to allow zooming in way further before the precision barrier will hit. Added asm-optimised 64bit multiplication routine for SH1; more than twice as fast as what gcc produces. (2) Precision is dynamically selected based on the zoom level, low zoom factors still use 32bit for speed. (3) Maximum number of iterations is adapted to the zoom level. You can still increase / decrease it while staying at a zoom level. (4) Panning only recalculates the scrolled-in part of the screen -> way faster panning.

00866dbf86 Grayscale library: (1) Ported to iriver H1x0. Experiments have shown that the intended 49-shade mode isn't possible due to interference between the internal greylevel generation of the LCD and external pixel flipping, so the lib allows 33 shades as on the Archos. The current implementation wastes RAM by not switching the LCD to b&w mode and simply using colours 0 and 3 only. However, this allows to show a partial greyscale overlay and normal 4-shade graphics in parallel. (2) Converted all asm blocks to use symbolic parameters. (3) Properly marked asm input parameters that are changed within the block as in-out and feed them from a temp variable where necessary. (4) Screenshot is not yet working on H1x0.

e44372ef18 Moved implementation of user timer to the firmware layer, implemented it for iriver, and made it shareable based on priorities. On iriver, the user timer is shared between the backlight fading and other use, so if a plugin registers the timer, the backlight will resort to simple on/off switching until the plugin releases the timer again. Sorted and bumped the plugin api.

c20a00ef3e Complete rework of the grayscale library: (1) Implemented the new rockbox graphics api. (2) Added buffered mode, and implemented most drawing functions for buffered mode only. Buffered mode will ease implementation of animated graphics. Some functions are additionally provided as unbuffered versions (drawing grayscale bitmaps, scrolling) since unbuffered mode is better suited for non-animated graphics (JPEG viewer, mandelbrot) and saves some RAM, which is important on Archos. (3) Put all functions in a couple of source files, no more one-function-per-files. This became possible since sectioned compilation for the plugin library and appropriate linking for the pluginswas introduced, otherwise the binaries would be bloated by unused functions.

426df39c4c Cube.rock: converted to binary fixed-point arithmetic allowing for some more optimisation, and added proper aspect handling of LCDs with non-square pixels (all archos SH targets).

85e03767f7 Reorganized encoder to allow compressing blocks in smaller chunks and 
improved efficiency somewhat by looping through data in tighter passes.
Code is basically ready for an attempt at direct recording.

f894a4c269 4-shades greyscale graphics core for iriver H1x0. 4-grey rockbox logo and light grey background in splash() boxes. Simplified the splash() box creation as the new graphics core does clipping. Adapted screendump feature and added flexible preprocessing to construct the bmp header. Rockboy now uses 4-grey mode as well. 4-grey support for win32 simulator. Fixed win32 player sim to not use double bitmap conversion via a recorder-like framebuffer, and correctly display double-height text. X11 simulator temporarily adapted. The display won't be distorted, but it still shows b&w only.

febd9750f1 Created new viewer application to test WavPack encoding. Accepts .wav file 
and generates lossless .wv with the same name. Runs at about 150% realtime
for now. Only problem is that folder display (and playlist?) do not get
updated when finished and since files don't show extensions it's a little
hard to tell which is which (wav is first by alpha).

c735ed7914 First runtime database support, self repairing, only playcount works for now, 
which is still rather crude; playcount gets increased even if the song started playback but was skipped... track rating should be trivial to add, autorating also works since its based on playcount.

305a7ce1a2 Enabled sectioned compilation for the plugin library, and linking with garbage collection for the plugins. The effect is that functions and data objects from one object file in the plugin library are included in the .elf individually, not as a whole. It makes maintaining larger plugin library packages easier, as it is no longer necessary to split the source files by function to avoid dead code to get included in the plugins.
