01313d5039 * Rename backlight_force_on to backlight_ignore_timeout to make it clear what the function does. 
* Add backlight_force_on() which forces to turn on backlight even when the setting is set to Off. use this in lamp.
No functional change except lamp.

da16248e47 Plugins: modify IRAM copying code 
Move to plugin_crt0.c, plugins don't need PLUGIN_IRAM_* macros anymore
IRAM is no longered zeroed before copying (as it is at the same address
than BSS) -> Fix FS#11581
Use cpucache_invalidate() (and not cpucache_flush), needed for self-modifying code on cached IRAM

cae4ae2c71 Second try: Introduce plugin_crt0.c that every plugin links. 
It handles exit() properly, calling the handler also when the plugin returns
normally (also make exit() more standard compliant while at it).
It also holds PLUGIN_HEADER, so that it doesn't need to be in each plugin anymore.

To work better together with callbacks passed to rb->default_event_handler_ex() introduce exit_on_usb() which will call the exit handler before showing the usb screen and exit() after it.
In most cases rb->default_event_handler_ex() was passed a callback which was manually called at all other return points. This can now be done via atexit().

In future plugin_crt0.c could also handle clearing bss, initializing iram and more.

57613ea5fa Rename/change SIMVER to APP_TYPE in the Makefiles. 
SIMVER was really only used to detect a simulator build. With APP_TYPE you can
now differentiate between simulator, application, checkwps and database builds.

35e8b1429a Rockbox as an application: Replace many occurences of #ifdef SIMULATOR with #if (CONFIG_PLATFORM & PLATFORM_HOSTED) (or equivalently). 
The simulator defines PLATFORM_HOSTED, as RaaA will do (RaaA will not define SIMULATOR).
The new define is to (de-)select code to compile on hosted platforms generally.

Should be no functional change to targets or the simulator.

9c6e217f29 Doom plugin: In anticipation of moving to the EABI toolchain, because of its assumptions about enums being sized as ints, convert enum typdefs to int or unsigned depending upon whether they have negative values in the enumeration. This should effectively preserve the manner in which it is compiled under the old toolchain and avoids having to closely inspect and possibly change many places in the code.

e919b5d5b9 Fix disastrous variable shadowing, change casts to unsigned in (cygwin doesn't like mode_t there, and unsigned int should be equally correct) and check the correct bitmask in sim_open(). 
Should repair filesystem accesses on the sim.

50a6ca39ad Move c/h files implementing/defining standard library stuff into a new libc directory, also standard'ify some parts of the code base (almost entirely #include fixes). 
This is to a) to cleanup firmware/common and firmware/include a bit, but also b) for Rockbox as an application which should use the host system's c library and headers, separating makes it easy to exclude our files from the build.

0a1d7c28b7 Make open() posix compliant api-wise. A few calls (those with O_CREAT) need the additional optional mode parameter so add it. Impact for the core is almost zero, as open() is a wrapper macro for the real open function which doesn't take the variable parameter.

Some plugins were forgotten : mpegplayer, test_fps, test_scanrate
Some plugins use button_status() and can't use BUTTON_REL or BUTTON_REPEAT flags
    rockblox1d : use single press BUTTON_HOME
    doom : use single press BUTTON_HOME and BUTTON_POWER to open doors
I may have forgotten some plugins, I didn't test them one by one

f82c944912 Use a static pattern rule to restrict the dependency on [pluginname].o to single-file plugins. This allows the pattern rule for %.rock (with all dependencies defined elsewhere) to pick up multi-file plugins with no [pluginname].o file, and get rid of the duplication in (doom|midi|reversi).make.

23d9812273 loader-initialized global plugin API: 
struct plugin_api *rb is declared in PLUGIN_HEADER, and pointed to by
__header.api

the loader uses this pointer to initialize rb before calling entry_point

entry_point is no longer passed a pointer to the plugin API

all plugins, and pluginlib functions, are modified to refer to the
global rb

pluginlib functions which only served to copy the API pointer are
removed

6920a5be44 rockdoom: Mixing 512 samples in an interrupt handler is too much. Gigabeast FIFOs are very tight and it will channel swap and crackle. It's better to minimize time in the audio callback anyway so change it to 128. It should probably even be 64. Use faster saturation code too.

c6b3d38a15 New makefile solution: A single invocation of 'make' to build the entire tree. Fully controlled dependencies give faster and more correct recompiles. 
Many #include lines adjusted to conform to the new standards.

32bd0f8ab1 Greyscale library: Optionally put the greyscale ISR on COP on portalplayertargets (only use with the grey_info structure in IRAM atm\!). This speeds up doom by ~50%, and makes mpegplayer work without stuttering audio on targets using it (measured on iPod 2nd Gen and Mini 2nd Gen). It needs corelocking certain functions in the LCD driver on 1st/2nd Gen.

40919d7db2 iAudio M3: Optimised LCD driver, with more/better assembly code. Speedup is ~80% when boosted, ~15% when unboosted. Also implemented grey phase blitting. * Adapted the greyscale library, and the plugins using it. * Fixed a bug in greyscale scroll down for vertically packed pixels.

81ba146706 Accept FS#8341 - rename BUTTON_SCROLL_UP/DOWN to FWD/BACK on the e200 to make it consistant with the ipods. apart from removing a bit of confusion, it fixes the wheel in pictureflow and possibly elsewhere.

dbe24fcbac Doom LCD update: * Speed up the C versions slightly (colour and greyscale). * Fix the ASM version for H300 (caused line flicker, probably since buffered LCD writes were enabled). Slightly slower, but still ~8% faster than plain C. Removed the C version of this ASM because of the same problem (was only there for reference). * Added ASM optimised version for X5 (~8.5% faster).

feb5b15e9b All-new greyscale library, replacing the old one. Features: (1) Drawing/updating is faster than the old grayscale lib at full depth. (2) Always 129 shades instead of 2..33 shades. (3) No graininess caused by frequent updates (mpegplayer, doom, ...). (4) Needs less memory than the old grayscale lib at full depth. * The tradeoff is slightly higher CPU load in the ISR (frames are calculated 'live') and an extra function in the core. * Ported all plugins which used the graylib to use the new one. * Some slight optimisations for archos and H1x0 LCD update.

12ddb8ea0d Enable plugins on the Sansa C200. Large parts taken from patch FS#7749 by Max Kelley with tweaks, bit of cleanup and additional bitmaps by me. Some of the now enabled plugins could still be improved in regard to screen size adaptation or keymaps but this way it can easily be done later and one by one. The rather ugly 'ifndef's I added temporaryly in plugins/SOURCES will also go one by one. Plugin button actions cause some quirks in a few plugins (e.g. 'clock') but since it's not critical , the bitmaps were already done and it makes a good example for discussing plugin button actions, I thought it could go in.

f64ebb1c1f Sim I/O and threading that runs more like on target. Tweakable if any genuine slowness imitation is required for any one of them. One point of concern is the sim shutdown on an OS other than Linux just because terminating threads in a manner other than having the do it themselves is kind of dirty IMHO.
