69f1870324 Fix red H300 simulator builds. The proper fix would be to simulate recording as well, also for H1x0. Probably just some function stubs are necessary.

2993ae69b5 Simplified and uniform volume handling: * Volume setting in dB on all targets, within the 'natural' range defined by the respective DAC (limited to -100..+12 dB for archos Recorders and Ondios in order to avoid 4 chars being displayed in the status bar). 0 dB means line level on all targets. * No more artificial volume limiting for Iriver and Player, settings always represent true values. Removed the various sound scaling options. * Bumped config version so save your settings. Also make sure to adjust the volume after loading a .cfg, then save the .cfg again, otherwise the volume will be out of range (a flaw in the .cfg loader).

5009c9c1b8 Split the HAVE_RTC define into HAVE_RTC, HAVE_RTC_RAM and CONFIG_RTC - in preparation for targets (H300, iPod) which have a clock (HAVE_RTC) but no general purpose RAM available for settings data (HAVE_RTC_RAM). CONFIG_RTC is used to specify the low-level driver required.

b51f7dfc9b Backlight handling: * Added 'Caption Backlight' and 'Backlight On When Charging' for the iriver remote LCD. * Enabled the backlight code for the simulator, and prepared backlight simulation. It's only a stub atm, writing messages to the console window. * Added tick task handling to the simulators for this to work. * Code cleanup in backlight.c, less dead code.

5b2cba17aa Changed the LCD_COLOR pixel value format to packed RGB (unsigned int). Now all LCDs with depth > 1 use the same datatype. Added macros for easy pixel value definition.

7944771772 Force -mlong-calls for iPod builds. This issue still needs investigating as we do not want long-calls everywhere. The -ffunction-sections is also required to force gcc use long calls.

0b00108c3e SH1: Changed UIE() to use the same reset method as on coldfire, using the watchdog timer. Should be more reliable this way. Disabled LED handling and added reboot-with-on for Ondio. * All: #ifdef cleanup in panicf(), added reboot-with-on for Ondio.

8051a0b724 Sound settings rework: * Put all fixed parameters (unit, decimals, step, min, max, default, set function) for the individual settings into one structure array. * Use the new individual sound setting functions where appropriate. * Added dummy sound setting functions and defined the codec type for the sims. Fixes wrong sound settings ranges in the simulators. * Code cleanup.

abd9f83e92 Two new sections for IRAM usage: .irodata (selectable with the ICONST_ATTR attribute macro), allowing to put 'const' data into IRAM without causing a section type conflict, and .ibss (selectable with the IBSS_ATTR attribute macro) for uninitialised data. * Rockbox core: Adjusted the linker scripts and init code to not include the .ibss section in the binary, it is cleared instead. Saves ~500 bytes on archos and ~30KB on iriver. Codecs and plugins don't handle .ibss in a special way yet. * The init code properly handles empty sections now (except .stack, which should never be empty). * Unified the init code for SH1 and coldfire a bit.

ab78b04680 Implemented directory caching. No more waiting for disk to spin up while 
browsing when cache is enabled (system -> disk -> enable directory
cache). Cache building on boot is transparent except the first boot.

cfb073c452 Coldfire: New timer handling on CPU frequency change, adjusting the prescaler on the fly, for both tick and user timer. Precondition is that the higher frequencies are integer multiples of the base: now NORMAL is 45 MHz and MAX is 124 MHz. Removes the need for applications with longer timer periods (>= 10 ms) to boost the CPU all the time, e.g. the grayscale lib. Timer counts are now always based on the base frequency (CPU_FREQ). * Adjusted the RAM refresh timers to the new frequencies (all frequencies for H100) * All: Fixed the tick timer count being off by one.

ba966c1761 Archos recording/playback: (1) Xing header creation: * Now estimates the framecount from the recording time if the MAS frame counter saturates, so it always writes a valid Xing header. * Reverted my brainless short-xing-header change. 988ea2cffc Added support for ID3V2 ReplayGain tags (as written by Foobar). Generalized the replaygain tag parsing a bit, to cut down the code size (APE tags should use this as well, but as it requires larger changes, it will have to wait for another commit). Also fixed a bug in the ID3V2 parser; ISO-8859-1 strings could confuse the main parsing loop (causing bufferpos to come out of sync).

e44372ef18 Moved implementation of user timer to the firmware layer, implemented it for iriver, and made it shareable based on priorities. On iriver, the user timer is shared between the backlight fading and other use, so if a plugin registers the timer, the backlight will resort to simple on/off switching until the plugin releases the timer again. Sorted and bumped the plugin api.

f894a4c269 4-shades greyscale graphics core for iriver H1x0. 4-grey rockbox logo and light grey background in splash() boxes. Simplified the splash() box creation as the new graphics core does clipping. Adapted screendump feature and added flexible preprocessing to construct the bmp header. Rockboy now uses 4-grey mode as well. 4-grey support for win32 simulator. Fixed win32 player sim to not use double bitmap conversion via a recorder-like framebuffer, and correctly display double-height text. X11 simulator temporarily adapted. The display won't be distorted, but it still shows b&w only.

a8cadd8181 Iriver: atomic I/O port manipulation macros, to avoid interference between normal and interrupt code. Todo: all other places that do port manipulation on ports which may also be changed from an intterupt should use that as well. It even decreases binary size a bit.

a142d4d79f Graphics: Lowlevel block function are in IRAM now as they're called often. Switched the masking logic for better readability. Draw modes and lowlevel function types are now defined for all platforms.

a24017f4da Moved the codec and plugin buffer sizes to the config-*.h files instead of 
having it repeated in numerous files where they all had to be updated to the
same value if ever changed. This allows specific models to actually have its
own buffer sizes.

37c3d8b610 Quick menu for iRiver: A long press on the PLAY key in the browser or the WPS will take you into the quick menu screen where certain common settings can be adjusted. Works just the same as F2 menu on Archos.

97a8049389 New feature for units that can be powered or charged from USB (Recorder fm/v2, Ondios): USB power mode, based on patch #1110332 by Pieter Bos. This way you can save battery power or even charge the battery (fm/v2) while using your unit near a PC. Hold MODE (Ondio) or F1 (fm/v2) while plugging USB to enter that mode. A tiny USB plug icon will be displayed is the status bar (overridden by the regular power plug icon in case of fm/v2 when the charger is connected).

e5d08722f8 Iriver: First attempt at recording. Use Info->Debug->PCM recording to test recording of wav-files. Seams to work fine except occasional 100 ms noise at pos 100 ms (not later) so initialization or synch problem..
