62f3e95945 FS#10014 - Separate tracklocking out of skip length, skip length prevented to skip tracks. This is a seperate setting now. tracks can still change during normal playback (i.e. a song ends).

ed1a3355de Add a Touchscreen Mode setting to switch between 3x3 grid and absolute point modes. Note that many screens have not yet been adjusted to absolute point mode, so use with caution.

fd14cac7c2 Split HAVE_SCROLLWHEEL into HAVE_SCROLLWHEEL and HAVE_WHEEL_ACCELERATION, where the latter now activates the wheel acceleration code. 
HAVE_SCROLLWHEEL plainly indicates the existence of a scrollwheel, thus all ipods define it now (in addition to the ones and some 
sansas which did before). Same applies to the manual.

d13f1a485f Commit FS#8314. This adds strnat[case]cmp written by Martin Pool, which respects numbers within strings, and gives a more intuitive 
sorting. This also adds a setting, so that the sorting can be used in the file browser. The implementation is very generic, and can possibly 
be used in other places.

12a0ed3b8d Commit FS#9724, which reworks the preprocessor defines related to backlight fading to a CONFIG_BACKLIGHT_FADING style. The apps/ code will only see which setting is supposed to be used, specific backlight fading handling is kept in firmware, slightly reword the manual text about software fading too with regards to the Gigabeat S

93572e2a9e Keyclick fixup take two. It is only 88 samples (2msec) long so keep a small static buffer around for beeps less than or equal to keyclick duration. This way it operates no matter the buffer state and still won't interfere with alternate PCM operations like recording or plugin playback.

58eb784a5d Straighten out some powermanagement stuff. Give target complete control over how power inputs are sensed. Clean SIMULATOR stuff out of target files. Get rid of USB charging option on targets that don't support it or don't implement it yet. Menu string remains to avoid language incompatibility but should be removed on next cleanup for targets not using it (notice in english.lang). global_settings becomes incompatible for some builds and so plugin API version is incremented.

495115b84a Add hardware backlight fading on Gigabeat S with fade up and down options in LCD Settings. USE_BACKLIGHT_CUSTOM_FADING_BOOL is used to specify the setting type needed but leave the fading code itself implementation-defined.

edcacaa787 FS#9515 - customisable quickscreen. Allows you to choose which setting you want displayed on the quickscreen. 
Allows almost every available setting. (change the options in settings > general settings > quickscreen items)
Not every setting will work perfectly, some might need aditional handling if the change doesnt take effect straight away (let us know which are problematic so they can be fixed)

528fe442fc New recording setting to configure how mono recordings are made. Previously, this was always L+R, which was kinda silly if your signal was on L only. This setting allows for L, R or L+R. SWCODEC only for now, to be added for HWCODEC (although that will only be L and L+R probably)

95f516e0b9 more slight playlist resume cleanuping... dont bother saving the playlist first index value. its reset to 0 before playlistcontrol is loaded anyway, and then reset to 0 after its finished so its completly useless in global_status. 
runtimes, resume info, etc will be reset again...

40d713c5fc FS#9408 - dont bother saving the random seed in global status. I'm 99.9% sure this code was being ignored anyway. 
If this commit causes problems with restarting playback open a bug report (getting testers was difficult...) 
Settings which are stored in the nvram.bin file will be reset with this commit. this includes  resume info, runtimes, "last screen" and a few others.

f6982346a1 Add timestretching from FS#8894, as written by Stephane Doyon based on work by Nicolas Pitre. Shouldn't affect playback unless it's explicitly enabled, but let me know if it does. Currently has a dedicated setting, but maybe inclusion of the code will inspire someone to integrate this with the pitch screen...

01729e7a18 FS#9281 Rename of splash functions. 
* Remove gui_splash()
* Rename gui_syncsplash() to splashf() and remove its voice 
capabilities.
* Rename the internal splash() to splash_internal() and introduce an 
externally visible splash() that handles simple splashing  without 
printf functionality e.g. splash(HZ, ID2P(LANG_FOO)); or splash(HZ, 
"foo"); if a LANG_* id is passed it will be voiced.
* Adjust all places that called gui_syncsplash() to use the correct 
variant from above.
* Export both new functions to plugins and adjust places calling 
rb->splash() to use the correct variant so that we now have naming 
consistency between the core and plugins.
* Fix one latent bug that would cause my sim to crash with the above 
changes and correct P2STR and P2ID macros, thanks to pondlife.

c541e04632 Gigabeat F/X: 
Allow chaning of touchpad sensitivity in the System settings menu. Some
units are dodgey at "Normal" senitivity and some at "High". "High" can make
some units difficult to navigate and may even require a settings reset so try
it and don't use "High" again if it doesn't work out :-). Defaults to "Normal"
 which behaves like older builds.

there is a known issue that on this screen the stop icon wont update, I dont know why and noone else wants to look at it, so hopefully this will force another set of eyes on it.. this is only a graphical issue... recordings still work fine

009cebeab2 Straigten-out lcd sleeping on Gigabeat F/X. Add a service function to backlight.c to handle lcd sleep timer. Make HAVE_LCD_SLEEP useable without a setting and use HAVE_LCD_SLEEP_SETTING when a setting is available in addition to HCD_HAVE_SLEEP. If a setting isn't used, the target must define the timeout to be used in the config.

850a11250a Adding new setting to System Settings <Accessory Power Supply -- off by default). This setting can be used to enable/disable the power supply for accessories. With this commit implemented for iPods with PCF50605 power controller.

2c82494e66 updated the quickscreen's: 
- use viewports
- dont change to system font, fiddle with item positions to make them fit small screens
- user customizable options (use the .cfg settings "quickscreen_left, quickscreen_right, quickscreen_top, quickscreen_bottom" for the name and the .cfg name for the setting you want to use. it can be any except the string settings... (e.g. quickscreen_left:talk menu)
- a top item! if there is none set the up button will exit the screen

ba75e6038f Move the playlist catalog config into the standard config files. 1 less disk spinup when the playlist cataloge is used the first time. 
The manual doesnt currently mention this setting (or ever did). use "playlist catalog directory:/path/to/Playlists" in the .cfg

ea358a1fdc Keyclick option (FS#7307). Disabled by default, go into System settings to enable it. WARNING: PortalPlayer targets reportedly have a problem with this, so don't enable it on those unless you want to risk burning your ears with horrible noise. This is probably a bug in pcmbuf_beep(), and I'm hoping that someone who has an affected target will look into it and fix it as a result of this commit.

4d238c14d7 bandaid fix for FS#8168 - statusbar would be enabled if poweroff happened while in fm screen. a proper fix is to not force the statusbar on in the fm screen, but untill that happens this is fine.

39e2de8f1b Crossfeed settings used to be stored inverted in the cfg file for legacy reasons, change that and kill some identical formatting functions while we're at it. NOTE TO CROSSFEED USERS: this will completely garble your crossfeed settings, write them down if you want to keep them.

d7e1f77146 Commit FS#7440. The iPod Video doesn't actually have a hardware equalizer. It does have hardware bass/treble settings with configurable cutoff. So make the bass/treble settings use the hardware and remove the hardware equalizer configuration.

f3b015f73b FS#7808 by Tom Ross, Ken Fazzone and me, with help from Antoine Cellerier. 
Add two new line selector types: solid colour and gradient. Solid colour only uses the primary colour setting.
The secondary colour setting is used for the gradient. Text colour for the selected item is also changeable.
These new settings are a bit controversial so they may be removed later.

583f186ce4 Implement FS #2976: Clip Counter for recording screen. If enabled in peak meter settings, it shows the number of times clipping occurred (clip indicator going on). Count is reset on recording start and only counts during actual recording. Stays on screen when stopping or pauzing. Also fix a drawing bug when peakmeters start at a non-zero x offset.

07a7d47cc1 Revert my filetypes commits from today. the nvram buffer is 44bytes of which 43 are currently being used. We need to figure out what to do about this. 
So in the mean time, set the MAX_FILETYPES to a huge value so we don't have to worry about this for a long while.

This build shold be safe to use again. If you downloaded a build after r14286 make sure you grab a new one

eff14cceec Change the way the MAX_FILETYPES define works. It now allocates enough filetype icons as it needed last boot + 8, this means we should never have to edit the define again. 
If you get the "filetypes array full" splash, do a clean reboot and it shuold go away. if it doesnt make sure you file a bug report and let us know you did reboot and it stayed there... it means that define does actually need increeasing.

873e0fd1ef Wheel acceleration for e200. A general acceleration interface intended for use on any scroll target and by any code. A general interface to obtain data associated with most recently dequeued button presses and actions. 74cbb0a1b2 Give color targets the ability to display each LCD line a different color and use this newfangled ability to provide themable colored file types. See the comments on read_color_theme_file and the sample.colors file provided for how to use this. .colors files go in themes directory for now. This separate line color function should be trivial to add to menus and wpss.

ce05addf52 Revert recording/repeat timer for now. It is useful as a feature, but didn't receive enough testing on multiple targets, and fixing it is non-trivial. Later reversal would be complicated because of .lng spreading. * The patch should probably redone in a different way, as it's huge for what it does... * Issues: (1) The repeat timer setting has NULL pointer hits. (2) The multi-int setting screen breaks with proportional fonts, and with somewhat larger fonts. (3) On some targets, all values except the leftmost one are unreachable. * Hint: The timer itself would be much simpler if it'd just store & compare ticks (497 days before it wraps).

9f4bd8712f Cuesheet support by Jonathan Gordon and me (FS #6460).

* Add set_int_ex() which is the same as set_int() but adds a param which

f0d2861fc5 when saving config.cfg, only save settings which are not the same as 
default, hopefully will give a small boost to saving and loading times.
Doing a manual save from "manage settings" > "write config" will save 
every 
setting.
Adds an option to save a cfg file from only the settings needed in a 
theme .cfg (I may have missed some so let me know).

0f5cb94aa4 Big Patch adds primarily: Samplerate and format selection to recording for SWCODEC. Supprort for samplerates changing in playback (just goes with the recording part inseparably). Samplerates to all encoders. Encoders can be configured individually on a menu specific to the encoder in the recording menu. File creation is delayed until flush time to reduce spinups when splitting. Misc: statusbar icons for numbers are individual digits to display any number. Audio buffer was rearranged to maximize memory available to recording and properly reinitialized when trashed. ColdFire PCM stuff moved to target tree to avoid a complicated mess when adding samplerate switching. Some needed API changes and to neaten up growing gap between hardware and software codecs.

354770088e Re-enable the currently unused and broken dithering and noise shaping code already in Rockbox, and make it a user option instead of a codec-controlled option. The majority of people probably will not even hear any difference with this enabled, but feedback is welcome. Save your settings!

fa9dee01bc Reverted the recording timer commit, as it has at least 2 major problems. (1) It uses the user timer, which interferes e.g. with backlight fading on H1x0 (and potentially other targets). Using the user timer here is a waste, as the required timing lies in the range of seconds to days. A tick task would be sufficient. (2) It draws to the LCD from within an ISR. This must not be done unless there's a mechanism to ensure it doesn't interfere with the main thread's drawing, otherwise garbage might be displayed and LCD updates might stop working.

7ef47ed876 Recording countdown timer: set timer in recording settings screen (max 1 week countdown), start/pause timer in recording screen by pressing the pause button. If you have a separate record button then this will override the timer and start to record. Icon at bottom right of screen indicates timer is ticking. If you are in the recording screen when the countdown is over, recording will start automatically, if not then the icon will flash to indicate you should return to the recording screen to begin recording.

3d2e10bcbd Added remote backlight on hold option to players with remote hold switch. Disabled IRQs while reading pcf50606 ADC. This seems to have stopped buttons becoming unresponsive when using remote. Maybe fixes other button glitches as well?

3c7278f405 Reworked backlight fading by GPIO based PWM to work for other targets 
than H1x0. iPod Nano and 5G backlight fading is enabled. To try for your
device, just define HAVE_BACKLIGHT_PWM_FADING in the relevant
config-xxxx.h file. NOTE: Will break your settings, so save a config
file first.

603f87fe3c Foreground/Background colour settings. Based on patch #3050 by Jonathan Gordon, extended my me. The principle of the patch is that the three sliders contain the native ranges (currently 0..31, 0..63, 0..31), and the equivalent RGB888 colour is displayed underneath. The config block (and global_settings struct) contain the native value for the fg/bg colours (either RGB565 or RGB565SWAPPED), but the text .cfg files contain the RGB888 value written as 6 hex digits.

d9e5b67b71 Patch #1421422 - Backdrop image patch started by Linus, finished by me. Adds ability to set backdrop images for file browser and menus (store full-screen bitmaps in /.rockbox/backdrops/) and also the ability to set a full-screen background image in a WPS using the %X|filename.bmp| WPS tag. Currently only implemented for targets with colour LCDs.

2993ae69b5 Simplified and uniform volume handling: * Volume setting in dB on all targets, within the 'natural' range defined by the respective DAC (limited to -100..+12 dB for archos Recorders and Ondios in order to avoid 4 chars being displayed in the status bar). 0 dB means line level on all targets. * No more artificial volume limiting for Iriver and Player, settings always represent true values. Removed the various sound scaling options. * Bumped config version so save your settings. Also make sure to adjust the volume after loading a .cfg, then save the .cfg again, otherwise the volume will be out of range (a flaw in the .cfg loader).
