f783617cbc Gigabeat: Audio tweak mishmash - Make sure zero crossing detection times out so the volume always gets updated. Make sure i2s is off at boot and set to proper mode before audio hardware is initialized. Make pausing pcm instant instead of waiting until the end of the current DMA transfer.

8768ee82cc PP5024 (e200): There's more than one HI IRQ bit for enabling GPIO IRQs. Port A uses bit 32 and port F,H use bit 33. Please add futher GPIOx_IRQ/MASK defines and associations to pp5024.h as they are discovered. I guess the SD card patch will need a small update to properly detect insertion.

2d48d0ffa6 Straighten out some audio path APIs and misc. audio stuff. Having recording is not a prerequisite to having input/output source selection which is probably most useful when adding a audio input features like FM to a new port without forcing recording to be implemented first.

7a16069507 e200: Better sync of display enabling and display update. The display would be remain stale after being turned back on with no screen activity. Block out the fiddling with DMA when writing to driver framebuffer. Melts seem too rare to catch now. There seems to be no significant advantage from an appearance point of view to be meddling around with the transfer anyway.

21a4a87ca2 Accept FS#7178 - Sansa e200 FM tuner support by Ivan Zupan. Do the needed integration work into recording and the AS3514 audio driver. Do a little AS3514 fiq_record tweak to have it all work nicely from the start.

bcb8a884ee e200: Add recording. Just from MIC right now and FM integration will happen soon. Most every bit of weirdness is nescessary and no problems seem to exist that the retailos doesn't exhibit too (namely noise when LCD is on when recording from MIC).

5c32faad43 e200: Finally use GPIO IRQs for the buttons...it's IRQ enable bit 33 afterall and verified independently. There shouldn't now be a need to add tick tasks to monitor GPIO level status in other code.

13067f6c71 e200: Use clocking set up by loader and skip setting the values for now. Change a DMA related register value and leave another alone. Seems to stop the melting screen and gives a speedup especially to video and graphics. If the former isn't quite fixed, the latter definitely works. Please don't enable frequency scaling for now as that will clobber the register values.

8f659ae8d3 Use bitmasks to define which inputs are available. Makes it easier to remove old assumptions of which are available. Inspired by e200 being unique in having FM Radio and Mic but no Line. Doesn't remove the assumption that Mic is available or that one of Mic and/or Line is available just to avoid excessive #ifdef'ing until needed.

5acb2d5d76 Backlight=on as default for sansa bootlaoder/application. Allows instant

0030378f74 More gigabeat LCD cleanup and completely remove the use of DMA for lcd_update_rect() (this was accidentally disabled anyway by the previous commit). The DMA version of lcd_update_rect() managed 64fps, but the memcpy based implementation manages 264fps.

e22b33ec72 Gigabeat LCD driver cleanup: Revert the DMA optimisations to the gigabeat LCD driver - they are both buggy (the wrong background colour was often seen, e.g. in the USB screen after using a plugin) and significantly slower than the standard implementations (which use the ARM-optimised mem* functions) in lcd-16bit.c. lcd_clear_update was 4.5 times slower with DMA when a backdrop is in use, and 12 times slower with DMA when no backdrop is in use.

d92e09556f GPIO IRQ ready button driver for e200 series. Can't actually use them yet but their status is polled. Easy to switch over once that works. Cheapo acceleration added or else it would be too fast for selecting items. Too much scrolling might cause the PCM buffer to empty out - beware. )

1fc2d91a83 More Gigabeat button light fixes. Settings now work properly, startup does not cause the button lights to flash when disabled. Buttonlights are now shutdown on power off.

6f95ab7de7 Add in buttonlight brightness setting for the Gigabeat, and setup the framework for future players that have adjustable button light brightness settings. Also fixed a bug in the backlight code when the brightness was set to 0.

173b611921 Basic gigabeat buttonlight support outside of debug menu FS#7112. Also disables USB PLL and the USB device clock (uneeded to connect to computer) - May offer some power savings. Changed how some pins are initialized.

7027c6a0f8 FS#7036: Power saving improvements for Sansa. Shutdown LCD controller when backlight is off and shutdown ATA controller when the disk isn't being accessed. Frequency scaling is not enabled yet as it was apparently causing some problems.

c49d5dd631 Coldfire targets: Adjusted PLL settings (lowest possible VCO clock for each setting) and IDE timing (especially it's faster now on M5+X5). * Added/updated table showing the necessary settings (PLL, refresh, waitstates, IDE timing) for each possible clock frequency.

8a1fd8c686 Commit FS#6929 - Gigabeat bootloader improvements by Barry Wardell and myself. This build fixes the problems seen with the latest builds on the Gigabeat X. Added View IO Ports under the Debug menu for the Gigabeat. Make sure you grab the latest bootloader from the Wiki as the old bootloader will not work properly with new builds.

The need for this became apparent when the first change cause aligment & 3 != 0 and the screen was wrapped one pixel right with a black pixel at (0, 0).

d95c39072a Portal Player: Add invalidate_icache and flush_icache. Flush the cache on the core for newborn threads. In doing so, move more ARM stuff to the target tree and organize it to make a clean job of it. If anything isn't appropriate for some particular device give a hollar or even just fix it by some added #ifdefing. I was informed that the PP targets are register compatible so I'm going off that advice. The Sansa likes it though.

ddf83009a1 Switch to mi4 format for Rockbox binary on H10 and Sansa. This means we now only have one binary format to deal with on this target. Users with bootloaders older than 20 March 2007 will have to update. Up to date ones are already on download.rockbox.org since that date.

4303ab02a3 Optimized lcd_yuv_blit() (used by mpegplayer) for the Sansa E200. This is just a copy-and-paste of the Gigabeat version by Michael Sevakis with no attempt to adapt to the different CPU in the E200 - so there could be room for further improvement. Reported to increase the FPS for the 224x128 version of Elephants Dream from 21fps to 27fps.

e1dd10ddfb SWCODEC: Get rid of extra swap buffer and get back 512K of RAM or 100K if the players RAM is <= 1MB. 6c8772d6db x5/M5: Finally get rid of filter selection aberrations when switching to 88.2kHz sampling rate which affected both the DAC and ADC. Turning off the DAC and ADC before changing the internal codec frequency seems to cure the remaining glitch of the filters not being correctly selected by the TLV320. Some FIFO reset changes that help keep it stable as well. Supporting 88.2KHz on iAudio has been a tricky ordeal. Also made sure to ok the HW tone controls on iRiver. :)

5d63776a24 Reenable aynchronous audio init stage. Really just single stage with aynchronous enabling of outputs. Keeps audio_init last so prior init steps can use the audiobuffer in any desired way. Audio will be fully initialized by the time the UI is entered. Playback of voice or audio will be delayed properly until audio hardware is ready.

633f388002 Coldfire targets: Shuffle IRQ levels around to have all interaction between low level audio function calls and DMA be atomic. Make recording and playback independently startable and stoppable so one can be running and not interfere with the other. All tests I can do at the moment check out ok (play, record, play+record, FM radio on iRivers, S/PDIF on H120 (w/running optical on/off), and on-the-fly samplerate changes). Recording tested for well over an hour run and no problems.

8867d00141 More catching up on old work. Refine audio interface setup on Coldfire. Stop the funky glitching on the iAudio stuff when starting recording esp. at 88.2kHz. (probably due to the bidi interface). iRivers don't seem to care what you do. TLV320 still seems to have a little trouble selecting it's filters correctly for 88.2kHz or it could be some odd phasing effect. Get rid of the horrible reset parameter in pcm_apply_settings as it can decide for itself.

198772a6b2 iRiver H100 series: Catching up on old work. Use a better way to keep playback going when switching optical output. Doesn't mess with the DMA peripheral requests to do it like before but just writes a sample to the FIFO. 82f9056988 Dual core support for PP502x players (iPod G4 and later, iriver h10, Sansa - iPod G3 will be coming soon.) This allows threads to be run on either core provided that all communications between the cores is done using uncached memory. There should be no significant change in battery life from doing this. Documentation (on the RockboxKernel wiki page) will follow shortly.

e3a55f2bdc FS#6675: Add lcd_yuv_blit() for the Sansa. Thanks to Rene Peinthor. This makes mpegplayer run on the Sansa. Button detection in mpegplayer doesn't work because it is done in the audio thread and that thread locks up because we don't have audio support yet. So for now it's necessary to do a hardware power off to quit mpegplayer.

139fb1af20 Move dr_controller_setup() to usb_init_device() and add a call to dr_controller_stop() if we detect USB disconnection. This seems to improve reliability when connecting to Mac OS X - Rockbox previously killed its USB stack since the introduction of the new USB detection code.

3a6d4791d7 No functional changes, just reorganising code: 
1) Move ARC OTG USB (used in PP502x) driver code into it's own file, drivers/arcotg_udc.c. Hopefully in  the future we will be able to adapt more of the Linux driver and add it to this file.
2) Rename mx31.h to arcotg_udc.h to reflect the file the code came from. It's also a more accurate name for the USB controller.
3) Get rid of one more inl()/outl() in usb-pp.c and use the relevant #define instead.
4) Add dr_controller_stop(). Not used yet.

5f48e1590f Optimise EQ coef calculation routines for both speed and size. Move now unneeded fsqrt function to plugin fixed point library in case it'll be needed. Move all fixed point helper macros to dsp.h. Added FRACMUL_SHL macro to facilitate high-precision shifting of 64 bit multiplies and remove rounding from macsr in main thread to make this work as intended. 
Tested quite thorougly, but as always, be careful with your ears.

5d51784faa Assembler optimised ATA transfer loops for ARM targets. Only used for PP5020/5021/5022 targets atm. PP5002 seems to have problems with it not directly related to the asm code itself, and the gigabeat doesn't profit from it, probably because the CPU isn't the bottleneck even without optimisation.

041e5dceca On the H10 when we power the disk on again after spindown and poweroff we need to give it a little while to turn back on before we should try to access it. This should fix problems with disk accesses when coming from a disk poweroff state (related discussion in FS#6421).

d64e626387 Start of work on a port to the Archos 'AV300' (AV320/340/380) - a working UI simulator (but with a dummy background image for now) and the beginnings of the target-specific firmare code. Port is temporarily using a 2bpp LCD buffer format - the AV300 has a 320x240 colour (YCbCr-based) LCD which will need a new framebuffer format and drawing routines, but the LCD is also capable of various paletted bitmap modes, one of which has an identical framebuffer format to the greyscale ipods. Buttons (and hence the button mappings) are identical to the Archos Recorder, with the exception that the PLAY button on the Recorder is replaced by pressing the joystick on the AV300 (which I call BUTTON_SELECT). The initial port will begin by being strictly HWCODEC, but will evolve to be a hybrid SWCODEC/HWCODEC platform - it has a MAS3587F but also a main CPU (54MHz arm7tdmi plus DSP) capable of software decoding of at least some formats.

93b047fffe Updated buttonlights for the Gigabeat port. Added LCD controller off and on for extra power savings - thanks to Greg White. Incorporated feedback from Gary Allen. Added 'battery charging' mode: shows leds during charging. Added 'follow' mode that turns off leds when backlight goes off. Flicker mode and new solid mode only show during disk access. Access settings from Info/debug menu for now.

4b54302b07 Combine USB code for all PortalPlayer targets since they most likely all use the same USB hardware. Add register defines for the USB hardware addresses, based off the Freescale i.MX31 datasheet. Use usb_init() from the iPod code, but modified to use the new register defines rather than oul/inl on the hardware addresses.

2f16d4f1b3 Add working dual-boot bootloaders for H10 and Sansa, which allow booting the OF and Rockbox. Rolo also works. 
Changes made:

Combine bootloader/h10.c and bootloader/e200.c into a common bootloader file (bootloader/main-pp.c) to be used by all mi4 based PortalPlayer targets. The file bootloader/main-pp.c is based off the old bootloader/h10.c with some minor changes to allow it to work on the Sansa too. This effectively adds a Sansa bootloader.

Define MODEL_NAME string in config-*.h for use in bootloader.

Split crt0-pp.S into separate files for bootloader and normal builds. Bootloader code is now in crt0-pp-bl.S while normal build code stays in crt0-pp.S.

Improvements to crt0-pp.S and crt0-pp-bl.S (mostly to make it more multiprocessor safe):
* Leave space in bootloader at 0xe0-0xeb since scramble writes over there when it creates the mi4 file (don't leave space for iPods since it's not needed and all code in crt0-pp-bl.S needs to fit before the boot_table at 0x100).
* Remove unused DEBUG and STUB code from crt0-pp.S.
* Make CPU wait for COP to be sleeping when we put the COP to sleep.
* Invalidate COP cache when COP wakes
* Flush CPU cache before waking COP
* Make sure only the CPU clears the BSS (not the COP)
* Make sure only the CPU sets up its own stack (not the COP)

Rolo works on H10, so enable it.

Make Sansa e200 use rockbox.e200 rather than PP5022.mi4 for 'Normal' builds. This makes updating rockbox simpler as we don't need to go through the firmware update procedure, but rather just put a new rockbox.e200 on the device. rockbox.e200 uses a simple 'add' checksum.

* Fix failed compile of enc_config.c when HAVE_MPEG2_SAMPR is not defined.
* Fix bug in AIFF encoder header creation on little endian targets.
* Add recording screen keymaps for H10 and iPod.
* Move pcm_playback PP specific code to target tree.
* Add recording code to wmcodec drivers.
* Add pcm_record code.

Some problems still remain:
* Playback doesn't work after recording until Rockbox is restarted.
* Gain control not implemented.
* Only 16-bit/44KHz for now. The hardware should be capable of up to 24-bit/96KHz.
* Line-in recording not tested on H10.

9b720239a3 iRiver: Clearing CRSEL bit when using default CPU frequency caused audio chip to run at half frequency when radio screen called cpu_idle_mode(true) and corresponding high end loss after kepress timeout. CRSEL was originally preserved when bypassing PLL. CRSEL shouldn't have any bearing on PSTCLK or SCLK when PLL is bypassed since the dividers are bypassed as well (except for the divX2 for SCLK).

51189b4cb4 Small change to PCM recording API for low latency effects. Latency can be as low as 14 samples from input to output including the FIFOs (ColdFire) but 16 is more reasonable an expectation if only tranferring one sample per interrupt (\!). May convert PCM playback to use the same method as it can still be used in the old manner with some slight mods but has the potential to enable new features since it is more flexible.

8d2711b7d2 Improved power management (FS#3001). Shutdown rockbox when the battery gets to a level where the device doesn't function properly. Calculate remaining charging time while charging (rather than remaining running time). Show "Low Battery" and "Battery Empty" warnings. Also fixes FS#4786.

0f5cb94aa4 Big Patch adds primarily: Samplerate and format selection to recording for SWCODEC. Supprort for samplerates changing in playback (just goes with the recording part inseparably). Samplerates to all encoders. Encoders can be configured individually on a menu specific to the encoder in the recording menu. File creation is delayed until flush time to reduce spinups when splitting. Misc: statusbar icons for numbers are individual digits to display any number. Audio buffer was rearranged to maximize memory available to recording and properly reinitialized when trashed. ColdFire PCM stuff moved to target tree to avoid a complicated mess when adding samplerate switching. Some needed API changes and to neaten up growing gap between hardware and software codecs.

83aded979f H300: (1) Use DMA for LCD updates, with auto-aligned line reads. Speeds up LCD updates by ~ 75% at 11MHz and 45MHz. Only ~ 11% speedup at 124MHz due to (2). (2) Less aggressive LCD transfer timing at 124MHz. With the previous timing, slightly corrupted display contents was reported, and with DMA transfers at least 4 waitstates are needed to make updates work at all. * A table in system-iriver.c shows settings for all integer multiples of the base clock frequency (info for developers, not yet complete).

9e8fe0e4c6 General: changed local adc to voltage conversions in several places to use battery_voltage. Added battery_read_info function for unfiltered battery information. x5: removed adc_read as a distinct function. Removed adc tick task. adc_init is empty inline. Adjusted battery scale, voltage to level array and read 10 bits from the ADC for battery since 255 levels is not enough for true centivolt resolution.

1d4a9c6366 Stop reading buttons if one is not down. Don't read remote keys if not plugged. Good for another few points of boost and 4fps full-screen unboosted. The button scan enabling seems stable and I've been using it without any difficulties but if the interrupts hiccup it could leave them unresponsive. Clearing the GPI0 interrupts before enabling them seems to prevent any difficulties. If there's problems there I'll just leave the remote reading bypass only and 50% of the benefits will still be realized.

b26e396436 Pinched pcf50606 i2c code used in iRiver players and adapted to x5. Boost ratios down as much as 100 percent for mp3 and 50 percent for vorbis. mp3 hardly ever boosts even with eq. Scrolling much sharper. Like a whole new player. The code can be used for both iRiver and x5 by just defining macros with the appropriate ports and bit numbers for each player. Probably will have a pcf50606-coldfire.c soon.

1102afb0b0 Disables hard dither mode on the x5 for routine drawing. Display driver automatically enables it when needed. Full screen frame rate up to 48 at normal CPU frequency from about 45 putting it about where it was when everything including the framebuffer was in IRAM due to the shorter and simpler lcd_write_data. Please advise if this works differently on any x5 as this might be considered a hack since nothing in the datasheet specifies using the chip this way. It is perfectly functional on mine.

e63e62b2a1 Detect charger connected on H10. No need to sleep(HZ) when powering off. 
More sensible USB support for H10: plugging in puts it into USB charging mode and leaves Rockbox usable, holding 'O' while pluggin in the USB cable will reboot the H10 (continuing to hold 'O' starts it up in UMS mode), holding any other button brings up the USB screen as previously.
Implement system_reboot() for all PP5020 devices.

9b1dd444b0 Fix display bugs with H10 LCDs (both 20GB and 5/6GB models). The 20GB LCD is actually a 128x160 LCD rotated 90 degrees, so we need to take account of this. The 5/6GB LCD is not rotated by 90 degrees but was treated as if it was (FS #5925, patch thanks to Thilo-Alexander Ginkel)
