PCM bottom layer simplification. pcm_rec_peak_addr variable no longer has to be handled there. Driver can just return current pointer for recording peaks. A new define, HAVE_PCM_REC_DMA_ADDRESS, specifies that physical addresses are being used for recording and translation is needed before starting a new block. The drivers need not worry about aligning start and size nor should care if either will be zero. All this will be checked in the logical layer first.

i.MX31/Gigabeat S: This should fix stability problems. One problem was to start using the DVFS controller properly so that interrupts will be masked at the lowest and highest frequency indexes. Millions of useless interrupts were occurring at 132MHz because its index was 2, not 3, which masks it automatically when it can't go slower. Stopping the flood was enough to actually see the difference in general. IRQ must be disabled when fiddling with the CCM registers and only enabled when waiting for voltage ramp as having them enables also causes spurious DVFS ints. Implement interruptible ISR pro/epilogue more safely (always using IRQ stack even in SVC mode handling). Fix an improper inequality in DVFS code (which set regs for down when going up and v.v.). Misc. support changes. Have internal tables take less RAM.

i.MX31/Gigabeat S: The nested IRQ code was just totally wrong and not actually working anyway (which is why it wasn't crashing). AVIC doesn't seem truthful about priority of current ISR either :\. Sometimes there were channel swaps during really active DVFS due to FIFO underflow from a needed long delay in the ISR (100us, and IIS TX only has 45us reserve) and DMARQ *must* be serviced low-latency. Use settings for DAC AGC, cpeaker driver bias current (which is unused in rockbox), dither, and headphone bias current taken from c200v2 firmware. These should result in several mA power savings on all as3525, and probably an improvement on AS3525v2 as well as the c200v1 and e200v1. RMAA tests on the e200v1, clipv1 and clipv2 show no measurable difference in output when driving a 16 ohm load.

Make builds with MAX_PHYS_SECTOR_SIZE defined (ipod video) work with larger sizes if the drive is sane.
...
The ipod video build has a MAX_PHYS_SECTOR_SIZE of 1024. This meant it would refuse to boot on drives with sectors larger than 1024 bytes, even if those drives don't actually require the workaround originally intended for the 80GB 5.5G's drive.
ata_init() will now, if the drive claims to have >512 byte sectors, try and read sector 1 to determine if the drive is capable of emulating 512-byte sector accesses. If this succeeds, we assume the drive is better at it than us (this is very likely to be true) and set phys_sector_mult to 1, disabling the workaround and ensuring the drive will work regardless of sector size.
Making use of this change requires that you build and install an updated bootloader as well as the main build; a new iPod bootloader will be released soon, so if you can't do this yourself, be patient.

as3525v2: set PCLK correctly
...
PCLK doesn't use PLLA as a source but FCLK, so when changing FCLK with
CGU_PROC register, we must change PCLK as well with CGU_PERI register
Operate with 24MHz PCLK (and unboosted FCLK) for Clipv2/Clip+
Use 60MHz on Fuzev2 to keep the display fast enough (still slower than
Fuzev1 though)
µSD seems to function correctly now

Add IO priority handling. Currently all IO has equal priority, except the dircache scanning thread which is lower. This fixes the slow boot problem for me, with the added benefit that actual audio playback also starts faster.
...
Lots of the changes are due to changing storage_(read|write)sectors() from macros to wrapper functions. This means that they have to be called with IF_MD2(drive,) again.
