c6b3d38a15 New makefile solution: A single invocation of 'make' to build the entire tree. Fully controlled dependencies give faster and more correct recompiles. 
Many #include lines adjusted to conform to the new standards.

d462a64a91 Initial commit of iaudio 7 port by Vitja Makarov (FS#9245). Port is at quite an advanced stage, but is troubled by the lack of a reliable NAND driver (similar to the Cowon D2 port) and is not yet suitable for non-developers.

01729e7a18 FS#9281 Rename of splash functions. 
* Remove gui_splash()
* Rename gui_syncsplash() to splashf() and remove its voice 
capabilities.
* Rename the internal splash() to splash_internal() and introduce an 
externally visible splash() that handles simple splashing  without 
printf functionality e.g. splash(HZ, ID2P(LANG_FOO)); or splash(HZ, 
"foo"); if a LANG_* id is passed it will be voiced.
* Adjust all places that called gui_syncsplash() to use the correct 
variant from above.
* Export both new functions to plugins and adjust places calling 
rb->splash() to use the correct variant so that we now have naming 
consistency between the core and plugins.
* Fix one latent bug that would cause my sim to crash with the above 
changes and correct P2STR and P2ID macros, thanks to pondlife.

34d4165f7b New md5sum plugin. Open a file, a directory or just launch it from the plugin menu to create an md5sum of the file, the directory's contents or the whole filesystem. If the file's extension is .md5 or .md5sum, it will check the md5 sums in the file instead. If the file's extension is .md5list it will compute md5 sums for all the files listed.

b4275d4941 Philips GoGear SA9200 port. Working bootloader and normal builds, including sound. No touchpad now, buttons limited to using vol+/vol-/power for up/down/select. Rockbox USB is enabled since the OF is MTP only...read the warnings on the PortalPlayerUsb wiki page.

1f2df74079 MPEGPlayer quickie: add an option to set the backlight brightness to a plugin-specified value when playing video or interacting. Nice when one likes a dim backlight normally but that isn't sufficient when viewing video for instance. Suggested in FS#8417 in addition to my own desire for this.

33b785e40b allow the plugin playback control menu to be put in a viewport. 
fix text editor so it is actually possible to get to the control menu if the file hasnt been changed (its in the regular menu now)

6aa36c66a3 Commit FS#8308 (Port of imlib2 based smooth scaling) by Jonas Hurrelmann. It could be made smaller by taking out some special cases, but I'm leaving them in for now because size isn't really a concern until we decide to move it into the core (if we ever do). test_resize now allows to choose between both resize methods for comparison. sliding_puzzle is made to use the smooth scaling.

8f560bc2b5 Greyscale library: Always use reconstructing inversion, because it's legal to use unbuffered drawing functions in buffered mode, meaning that the chunky buffer might not be in sync with what's displayed. Mpegplayer does this.

32bd0f8ab1 Greyscale library: Optionally put the greyscale ISR on COP on portalplayertargets (only use with the grey_info structure in IRAM atm\!). This speeds up doom by ~50%, and makes mpegplayer work without stuttering audio on targets using it (measured on iPod 2nd Gen and Mini 2nd Gen). It needs corelocking certain functions in the LCD driver on 1st/2nd Gen.

5c87a98b97 Greyscale library: * Implement linearisation curve flipping for 1st/2nd Gen iPods (LCD is inverted when backlight is on, so the curve is also inverted). This needs a slight extension of is_backlight_on() functionality in the core. * Thorough recalibration of all reachable greyscale targets, and #ifdef cleanup. * Reduce on-target gamma a bit, because the displayable contrast range of a monochrome/greyscale isn't that high.

5ca1539969 the menu and list now accepts a parent viewport to draw in (and the menu can be told to not show status/button bars). This lays the groundwork to fix colour problems with plugin menus (see star.c for an example.) This hopefully fixes some button bar issues as well as theme problems.

40919d7db2 iAudio M3: Optimised LCD driver, with more/better assembly code. Speedup is ~80% when boosted, ~15% when unboosted. Also implemented grey phase blitting. * Adapted the greyscale library, and the plugins using it. * Fixed a bug in greyscale scroll down for vertically packed pixels.

29361abf74 Adapt most single-file plugins to the M3 keypad and screen. It's still preliminary, as many plugins now can't be left without the remote. The plugins need to be converted to use the action API (but not pluginlib actions). Plugins are not enabled yet. * Simplify the bitmap handling in the source of some plugins.

d829075a00 Driver for the Synaptics touchpad on the m:robe 100 based on the 3-wire interface spec. Needs some tweaking as it's too sensitive with the default hardware settings. For now, the vertical strip is divided into up/select/down buttons. Also, redo the keymap (using the Gigabeat as a starting point), but it still needs a good bit of work.

ebe5acfb9d Fixed the problems on the new version of the fire plugin (so repush it), added new actions to the pluginlib_actions to fix the keymaps on the Sansa e200 for the clock and fire plugins. Also slightly simplified the metronome plugin's key mapping with those new actions.

dae719dff7 Revert today's fire commits because it crashed all the targets I could test with (OndioFM, M5, C250). The plugin action conversion also caused problems (e.g. in a c200 sim which was working) I couldn't control flame type and movement and couldn't exit.

fa7eb56c84 Greyscale library: * Defer application of lcd linearisation + gamma in buffered mode to the actual update. This simplifies the update function (grey_update() and grey_update_rect() now are just calls to grey_ub_gray_bitmap_part()), and makes DRMODE_COMPLEMENT work properly. * Make the simulator version work and behave more similar to the target version.

6a56c14e17 Greyscale library: Changed the internal data format once more (separated pixel values and phases), allowing for further optimisation of drawing, scrolling etc. * Optimised grey phase blitting in the core reduces CPU load on all architectures, most significantly on coldfire. Previous version was too slow to keep up at 45MHz, leading to unwanted graininess (update frequency was halved). Also fixed screendump on 2bpp targets with vertical pixel packing.

feb5b15e9b All-new greyscale library, replacing the old one. Features: (1) Drawing/updating is faster than the old grayscale lib at full depth. (2) Always 129 shades instead of 2..33 shades. (3) No graininess caused by frequent updates (mpegplayer, doom, ...). (4) Needs less memory than the old grayscale lib at full depth. * The tradeoff is slightly higher CPU load in the ISR (frames are calculated 'live') and an extra function in the core. * Ported all plugins which used the graylib to use the new one. * Some slight optimisations for archos and H1x0 LCD update.

12ddb8ea0d Enable plugins on the Sansa C200. Large parts taken from patch FS#7749 by Max Kelley with tweaks, bit of cleanup and additional bitmaps by me. Some of the now enabled plugins could still be improved in regard to screen size adaptation or keymaps but this way it can easily be done later and one by one. The rather ugly 'ifndef's I added temporaryly in plugins/SOURCES will also go one by one. Plugin button actions cause some quirks in a few plugins (e.g. 'clock') but since it's not critical , the bitmaps were already done and it makes a good example for discussing plugin button actions, I thought it could go in.

26d242ae65 General housekeeping: Make plugin buffer functions take size_t * instead of int * to match the parameter type of the buffer functions called in the core. Get rid of unsafe int * <==> size_t * casting. Use ssize_t where int was used and size_t where unsigned int was used in the buffer calls to not alter signedness in the plugins. No API version change since it should only be an issue for 64-bit sim builds.

5f48e1590f Optimise EQ coef calculation routines for both speed and size. Move now unneeded fsqrt function to plugin fixed point library in case it'll be needed. Move all fixed point helper macros to dsp.h. Added FRACMUL_SHL macro to facilitate high-precision shifting of 64 bit multiplies and remove rounding from macsr in main thread to make this work as intended. 
Tested quite thorougly, but as always, be careful with your ears.

d64e626387 Start of work on a port to the Archos 'AV300' (AV320/340/380) - a working UI simulator (but with a dummy background image for now) and the beginnings of the target-specific firmare code. Port is temporarily using a 2bpp LCD buffer format - the AV300 has a 320x240 colour (YCbCr-based) LCD which will need a new framebuffer format and drawing routines, but the LCD is also capable of various paletted bitmap modes, one of which has an identical framebuffer format to the greyscale ipods. Buttons (and hence the button mappings) are identical to the Archos Recorder, with the exception that the PLAY button on the Recorder is replaced by pressing the joystick on the AV300 (which I call BUTTON_SELECT). The initial port will begin by being strictly HWCODEC, but will evolve to be a hybrid SWCODEC/HWCODEC platform - it has a MAS3587F but also a main CPU (54MHz arm7tdmi plus DSP) capable of software decoding of at least some formats.

cfb073c452 Coldfire: New timer handling on CPU frequency change, adjusting the prescaler on the fly, for both tick and user timer. Precondition is that the higher frequencies are integer multiples of the base: now NORMAL is 45 MHz and MAX is 124 MHz. Removes the need for applications with longer timer periods (>= 10 ms) to boost the CPU all the time, e.g. the grayscale lib. Timer counts are now always based on the base frequency (CPU_FREQ). * Adjusted the RAM refresh timers to the new frequencies (all frequencies for H100) * All: Fixed the tick timer count being off by one.

1a40e10933 H1x0: Changed lcd_blit() and the grayscale library to use the same internal format as on archos (1bpp). While the slowdown of the ISR is minimal (the intermediate buffers are in IRAM), the planar grayscale buffer takes only half the space for a given depth, and gray_update[_rect]() and unbuffered drawing/scrolling are faster because less data needs to be moved. It should also make porting of video.rock somewhat easier. * Archos recorders, Ondios: Some slight optimisations of the grayscale library.

00866dbf86 Grayscale library: (1) Ported to iriver H1x0. Experiments have shown that the intended 49-shade mode isn't possible due to interference between the internal greylevel generation of the LCD and external pixel flipping, so the lib allows 33 shades as on the Archos. The current implementation wastes RAM by not switching the LCD to b&w mode and simply using colours 0 and 3 only. However, this allows to show a partial greyscale overlay and normal 4-shade graphics in parallel. (2) Converted all asm blocks to use symbolic parameters. (3) Properly marked asm input parameters that are changed within the block as in-out and feed them from a temp variable where necessary. (4) Screenshot is not yet working on H1x0.

e44372ef18 Moved implementation of user timer to the firmware layer, implemented it for iriver, and made it shareable based on priorities. On iriver, the user timer is shared between the backlight fading and other use, so if a plugin registers the timer, the backlight will resort to simple on/off switching until the plugin releases the timer again. Sorted and bumped the plugin api.

c20a00ef3e Complete rework of the grayscale library: (1) Implemented the new rockbox graphics api. (2) Added buffered mode, and implemented most drawing functions for buffered mode only. Buffered mode will ease implementation of animated graphics. Some functions are additionally provided as unbuffered versions (drawing grayscale bitmaps, scrolling) since unbuffered mode is better suited for non-animated graphics (JPEG viewer, mandelbrot) and saves some RAM, which is important on Archos. (3) Put all functions in a couple of source files, no more one-function-per-files. This became possible since sectioned compilation for the plugin library and appropriate linking for the pluginswas introduced, otherwise the binaries would be bloated by unused functions.

305a7ce1a2 Enabled sectioned compilation for the plugin library, and linking with garbage collection for the plugins. The effect is that functions and data objects from one object file in the plugin library are included in the .elf individually, not as a whole. It makes maintaining larger plugin library packages easier, as it is no longer necessary to split the source files by function to avoid dead code to get included in the plugins.

ca2bb463d3 Major rework of the grayscale framework: 
* api change - all drawing functions now use draw mode, foreground and
  background shades set globally by separate functions
* There are now 4 draw modes for all drawing functions, no more separate
  functions for inverse drawing
* Significant speedup of 1-bit bitmap (and font) drawing (2..3 times)
* Some more speed tweaks
* Additional functions for horizontal and vertical lines
* Copied describing comments to the header file for easier reference
* The safety net against an uninitialized grayscale buffer is gone
