da16248e47 Plugins: modify IRAM copying code 
Move to plugin_crt0.c, plugins don't need PLUGIN_IRAM_* macros anymore
IRAM is no longered zeroed before copying (as it is at the same address
than BSS) -> Fix FS#11581
Use cpucache_invalidate() (and not cpucache_flush), needed for self-modifying code on cached IRAM

bc2b74b0fb properties: remove some text buffers 
use lcd_putsf()
remove filesize2string, instead get the "logarithm" (rounded towards
zero) and use the this value to compute the size displayed and the
unit prefix (nothing/k/m/g)

also use struct initializer in dir_properties()

e09ebc4213 pitch_detector: cleanup 
- cosmetics: remove trailing white space
- mark all functions and variables as static
- merge struct definition and declaration when possible
- rename tuner_settings -> settings (because it's shorter)
- remove unused enums
- don't give pointer to settings struct as argument since there is only
  one struct, same for the settings filename
- fix error cases in settings load:
    reset settings when loading failed
    close file when it hasn't the right size
- inline small load/save functions only used once
- remove unused print_char_xy
- inline print_str and print_int_xy, and use lcd_putsf (added to the
  plugin API)

194174a371 2nd try: Introduce a small api for loading code (codecs,plugins) from disk/memory. 
It's a used by codec/plugin loading and vastly reduces code duplication. It's also a step forward in getting rid of libuisimulator in the application ports.

Apparently sh needs linker symbols prefixed with _ even if they're referenced without from C code.

cae4ae2c71 Second try: Introduce plugin_crt0.c that every plugin links. 
It handles exit() properly, calling the handler also when the plugin returns
normally (also make exit() more standard compliant while at it).
It also holds PLUGIN_HEADER, so that it doesn't need to be in each plugin anymore.

To work better together with callbacks passed to rb->default_event_handler_ex() introduce exit_on_usb() which will call the exit handler before showing the usb screen and exit() after it.
In most cases rb->default_event_handler_ex() was passed a callback which was manually called at all other return points. This can now be done via atexit().

In future plugin_crt0.c could also handle clearing bss, initializing iram and more.

46454ac2a8 Move setjmp to lib and add setjmp for sh (imported from newlib) and compile it as separate library. 
It's used by both, plugins and codecs, and sh/hwcodec doesn't compile codecs
so it doesn't fit into sources.

57613ea5fa Rename/change SIMVER to APP_TYPE in the Makefiles. 
SIMVER was really only used to detect a simulator build. With APP_TYPE you can
now differentiate between simulator, application, checkwps and database builds.

cf73340f1e Enable game sounds in PacBox. Sound is OFF by default but can be enabled from the menu. Enable a function for SWCODEC in the middle of the plugin API, so plugins must be made incompatible (full update).

b15a523870 e200v1/c200v1: Implement limited samplerate switching. Rates 24kHz and below are being a bear as far as minor crackling at higher amplitude-- leave them out for the time being since no solution is currently evident. 48, 44, 32 (rec rates 24, 22, 16) seem perfectly fine. I'm betting c200 is ok to include because it uses the same setup as e200.

- screen access logics separte from tv_window. (new tv_display.[ch])

- (bug fix) the head of the each line is not normally displayed when the alignment is RIGHT.

59fd2b24bd FS#11399 by me: fix r26998 for text_viewer 
Restore the old behaviour:

- preferences must be read-write for tv_preferences.c , read-only for
  all other modules -> use pointer to const struct
- init functions must get the plugin buffer + its size as arguments for
  easily adding new functions -> use pointer to buffer pointer and size
  to make allocation easier
- preferences meaning is private to each file and must not be known by
  tv_preferences.c -> move tv_check_header_and_footer() back in
  tv_window.c; also avoid chaining 3 times the callbacks by calling
  tv_set_preferences() only once if more than one preference needs
  changing

35e8b1429a Rockbox as an application: Replace many occurences of #ifdef SIMULATOR with #if (CONFIG_PLATFORM & PLATFORM_HOSTED) (or equivalently). 
The simulator defines PLATFORM_HOSTED, as RaaA will do (RaaA will not define SIMULATOR).
The new define is to (de-)select code to compile on hosted platforms generally.

Should be no functional change to targets or the simulator.

    - use static tables for header/footer settings

    - check header/footer preferences before using the callbacks
    - don't include font filename in archos player preferences (break
      file format)

bugfix:
    - statically allocate old preferences in tv_set_preferences()

Sometimes I can read a file on Clipv2, but it still aborts quite often

45c7498f59 FS#11335 by me: make ARM assembly functions thumb-friendly 
We can't pop into pc on ARMv4t when using thumb: the T bit won't be
modified if we are returning to a thumb function
Code running on ARMv4t should use the new ldrpc / ldmpc macros instead
of ldr pc, [sp], #4 and ldm(cond) sp!, {regs, pc}
No modification on pure ARM builds and ARMv5+

Note: USE_THUMB is currently never defined, no targets can currently be
built with -mthumb, see FS#6734

bc26fe7a96 Add a wrapper header, mylcd.h, in the lib subdirectory, which lets plugins' code automatically call the proper functions depending if compilation is for greylib or color display, also forms proper call to grey_ and xlcd_. mylcd_ub_ call greylib unbuffered routines, regular lcd routines otherwise. Form is mylcd_<fnname>, <fnname> is the symbol name stripped of prefixes lcd_, grey_, or xlcd_. Convert a couple plugins I know well (easy job).

30e2f42c82 FFT Plugin: Revamp the main code to rid it of 64-bit math. Use 32-bit kiss_fft_scalar because 16-bit integers are generally a poor choice for computation on-target. Simplify display code to speed it up. Add logarithmic frequency display (need keymappings, guessed on some). On dual-core, perform FFT on COP. Add some support function to fixedpoint.c. ... and stuff.

9c6e217f29 Doom plugin: In anticipation of moving to the EABI toolchain, because of its assumptions about enums being sized as ints, convert enum typdefs to int or unsigned depending upon whether they have negative values in the enumeration. This should effectively preserve the manner in which it is compiled under the old toolchain and avoids having to closely inspect and possibly change many places in the code.

5d236b2bfd Generate C file / header for svn version string 
It's now easier to force rebuild of files depending on the svn revision

version.c/version.h are generated once with new tools/genversion.sh
Changes in the VCS are still not auto detected, so you'll have to remove
builddir/version.* if you want to change the string in your binaries

APPSVERSION is now called RBVERSION and is defined in the generated
header instead of being defined by the Makefiles
appsversion is now called rbversion (the plugin api number didn't change
since old modules are still binary compatible)

Change some bootloaders to use knwon-at-buildtime RBVERSION instead of
"%s" + rbversion

You'll need to run make clean to regenerate dependencies after the
removal of apps/version.h

To build binaries with a different version string, hand-edit
tools/version.sh or tools/genversion.sh (which calls the former)

d56999890f Make PCM->driver interface about as simple as it will get. Registered callback, zero data, alignment and stops are handled entirely inside pcm.c; driver merely calls fixed pcm.c callback. Remove pcm_record_more and do it just like playback; the original reason behind it isn't very practical in general. Everything checks out on supported targets. There wer some compat changes I can't check out on many unsupoorted but if there's a problem it will be a minor oops. Plugins become incompatible due to recording tweak-- full update. Sorted API.

20e9d56ba5 S#10387 - Rework pluginlib actions 
It changes pluginlib actions to contain only a single and simple context (and
other one for remote directional buttons),
consisting of 7(9) buttons: up/down/left/right, select OR short select and long
select, exit and cancel (plus 2 for scrollwheel targets).
This ensures contexts don't clash with other contexts and simplifies them, at
the expense of reduced versatility. However, the versatility made it largely unusable
due to the great number of targets.
This should allow for using pluginlib actions safely for the most simple plugins (e.g. almost all demos).

a01422c54b plugins: changes for targets with small plugin buffer (Clipv1) 
- only enable overlays for targets with very small plugin buffer (<=
  0x10000 bytes, i.e. archos)
- change the condition for rockboy to reflect exactly why it can be
  built or not
- Some plugins need a large plugin buffer, only enable them if the
  buffer is big enough (sizes measured on Clipv1)
- disable MIDI if we have 2MB (or less), we won't be able to load the
  instruments in the audio buffer
- remove unusable lua overlay loader
- sokoban code is bigger on clipv1 than on SH, assume it code is 20kB on
  anything but SH so it builds with buffer smaller than 192kB
- reduce the Clipv1 plugin buffer size from 288kB to 96kb, disabling
  zxbox, chessbox, and fft

zxbox and chessbox have overlays which run on archos, we just need to
enable them on other targets. We'll also be able to run rockboy.

fft won't run as it needs a large plugin buffer for greylib

0ea2753d86 mp3_encoder: reduce plugin binsize 
- reduce the size of some structs -> gain ~1kB
- since we run the code only once, we don't need to declare large
structure in bss and copy const data in them, declare them const
directly -> gain ~17kB
- steal audio buffer for encoded data buffer -> gain 64kB
this will stop playback when encoding, but it was stopped already on
targets using IRAM
- some const policy
Tested on Clipv1 & sim, 83012 bytes smaller on clipv1

3637ccbffc Change default chip8 keymap on c200/m200/clip families to use up/down on the 4-way pad instead of volume up and volume down, since most chip8 games use those buttons as directions.

fcf36dd4f9 Simplify mpegplayer a bit and use array-based lists rather than linked lists for stream management. Move a couple useful functions to handle pointer arrays from kernel.c into general.c; mpeglayer now makes use of them.

80d0d15ca9 Gigabeat S: Fully enable access to hardware tone controls and 3-D effect feature. Under the hood, it's designated a hardware equalizer since it is one. Implement code framework for hardware EQ in general. Menu aspect is well abstracted and so the UI and strings can be changed around if taste doesn't quite suit. So far the emphasis is distinction of the UI labelling from the software EQ so that it's clear the settings are for a different thing.

7250405c70 pitch_detector: Use continuous recording, even if the algorithm is too slow for that and record a whole buffer even if the min frequency is higher. Use the minimum samplerate that allows C-4186 to be detected (usually 11.025kHz, which can reduce computational load to 1/16 compared to 44.1kHz). Get rid of 64-bit multiplies when calculating input RMS value. Stop audio playback when entering plugin. Better backlight and CPU frequency handling. audio_sample_type->int16_t. simpler buffer size rounding.

a420561bf8 Gigabeat S: Reclaim about 800K of memory that was laying unused. Get rid of DEVBSS_ATTR for this target and implement as NOCACHEBSS_ATTR. Plugin and codec buffers move so all that is now incompatible (do full update). No version increase for plugins/codecs because the loader will reject them.
