3e7a09cb0d New Port: Eros Q Native
What works:
- LCD: 16-bit RGB565
- all buttons, including scrollwheel
- SD Card
- Battery level and charging/not charging status
- USB
- audio
- sample rate switching
- HP / LO detect, with "safe" fixed LO volume -
LO volume will only be put to user-defined max volume
   if headphones are not present.
- rtc
- Plugins build, tried a couple and they seem OK
- Bootloader, installable to nand via usbboot

What doesn't work:
- Dual Boot
- power on/off has intermittent, low volume audio click
(sometimes it's completely silent, sometimes there's
    a click)
- Audio uses 16-bit volume scaling, so clicking/popping
is pretty bad at lower volumes - need 32 bit volume
   scaling, 24 bit I2S data
- USB HID keys not yet defined
- no jztool support

Unknowns:
- Stereo Switch pins: Direction select, AC_DC
   (probably not even hooked up)
- What is the actual purpose of the Stereo Swtich?
- How does the bluetooth module connect?

"Someday" stuff:
- get LCD working at higher bit depth
- Bluetooth

4c60bc9e68 New port: Shanling Q1 native
- Audio playback works
- Touchscreen and buttons work
- Bootloader works and is capable of dual boot
- Plugins are working
- Cabbiev2 theme has been ported
- Stable for general usage

Thanks to Marc Aarts for porting Cabbiev2 and plugin bitmaps.

There's a few minor known issues:

- Bootloader must be installed manually using 'usbboot' as there is
  no support in jztool yet.

- Keymaps may be lacking, need further testing and feedback.

- Some plugins may not be fully adapted to the screen size and could
  benefit from further tweaking.

- LCD shows abnormal effects under some circumstances: for example,
after viewing a mostly black screen an afterimage appears briefly
when going back to a brightly-lit screen. Sudden power-off without
proper shutdown of the backlight causes a "dissolving" effect.

- CW2015 battery reporting driver is buggy, and disabled for now.
Battery reporting is currently voltage-based using the AXP192.

55805e13a4 Add new audiohw capability: POWER_MODE_CAP
This allows the user to make use of the DAC's power-saving abilities.
The two modes are "high performance" and "battery saver". This feature
is supported by the AK4376 DAC in the upcoming FiiO M3K port.

The setting is only a manual toggle right now, but in the future it
could be hooked up to the battery level (via another setting) so it
can be toggled automatically when the battery gets too low.

SUPPORTED SERIES:
- NWZ-E450
- NWZ-E460
- NWZ-E470
- NWZ-E580
- NWZ-A10

NOTES:
- bootloader makefile convert an extra font to be installed alongside the bootloader
since sysfont is way too small
- the toolsicon bitmap comes from the Oxygen iconset
- touchscreen driver is untested

TODO:
- implement audio routing driver (pcm is handled by pcm-alsa)
- fix playback: it crashes on illegal instruction in DEBUG builds
- find out why the browser starts at / instead of /contents
- implement radio support
- implement return to OF for usb handling
- calibrate battery curve (NB: of can report a battery level on a 0-5 scale but
probabl don't want to use that ?)
- implement simulator build (we need a nice image of the player)
- figure out if we can detect jack removal

POTENTIAL TODOS:
- try to build a usb serial gadget and gdbserver

Everytime I use it, I get highly confused because it's complicated and
undocumented. The code is spread all over the place and some targets clearly
use incorrect values. This is the first step of a series to cleanup audio settings

dbabd0d9c3 iBasso DX50/DX90: Major code cleanup and reorganization.
Reorganization

- Separated iBasso devices from PLATFORM_ANDROID. These are now standlone
hosted targets. Most device specific code is in the
  firmware/target/hosted/ibasso directory.
- No dependency on Android SDK, only the Android NDK is needed.
32 bit Android NDK and Android API Level 16.
- Separate implementation for each device where feasible.

Code cleanup

- Rewrite of existing code, from simple reformat to complete reimplementation.
- New backlight interface, seperating backlight from touchscreen.
- Rewrite of device button handler, removing unneeded code and fixing memory
  leaks.
- New Debug messages interface logging to Android adb logcat (DEBUGF, panicf,
  logf).
- Rewrite of lcd device handler, removing unneeded code and fixing memory leaks.
- Rewrite of audiohw device handler/pcm interface, removing unneeded code and
fixing memory leaks, enabling 44.1/48kHz pthreaded playback.
- Rewrite of power and powermng, proper shutdown, using batterylog results
  (see http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/1047/).
- Rewrite of configure (Android NDK) and device specific config.
- Rewrite of the Android NDK specific Makefile.

Misc

- All plugins/games/demos activated.
- Update tinyalsa to latest from https://github.com/tinyalsa/tinyalsa.

Includes

Does not include http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/1007/ due to new backlight
interface and new option for hold switch, touchscreen, physical button
interaction.

Rockbox needs the iBasso DX50/DX90 loader for startup, see
http://gerrit.rockbox.org/r/#/c/1099/

The loader expects Rockbox to be installed in /mnt/sdcard/.rockbox/. If
/mnt/sdcard/ is accessed as USB mass storage device, Rockbox will exit
gracefully and the loader will restart Rockbox on USB disconnect.

Tested on iBasso DX50.
Compiled (not tested) for iBasso DX90.
Compiled (not tested) for PLATFORM_ANDROID.

08199cd6cb Provide high resolution volume and prescaler to hosted targets.
HAVE_SW_VOLUME_CONTROL is required and at this time only affects the
SDL targets using pcm-sdl.c.

Enables balance control in SDL targets, unless mono volume is in use.

Compiles software volume control as unbuffered when
PCM_SW_VOLUME_UNBUFFERED is defined. This avoids the overhead and
extra latency introduced by the double buffer when it is not needed.
Use this config when the target's PCM driver is buffered and sufficient
latency exists to perform safely the volume scaling.

Simulated targets that are double-buffered when made as native targets
remain so in the sim in order to run the same code.

8829e909b4 Bass/Treble caps should exist implicitly with HAVE_SW_TONE_CONTROLS.
If AUDIOHW_CAPS is defined without explicit BASS_CAP/TREBLE_CAP while
HAVE_SW_TONE_CONTROLS is defined, AUDIOHW_HAVE_BASS/TREBLE should be
defined or otherwise the tone controls won't show up. TREBLE/BASS were
being defined if AUDIOHW_CAPS was NOT defined, but the same rule should
apply if the codec needs to specify other caps but doesn't use hardware
tone controls.

(I'm surprised noone noticed some settings gone missing :-)

e61e9c61d0 Do some cleanup, adjustment and a couple fixes to recent sound changes.
* SOUND_x enum can be generated by audiohw_settings.h along with settings
entries and sound_val2phys.

* VOLUME_MIN and VOLUME_MAX are no longer necessary within sound.c. If
you need them, they are for target-defined purposes.

* Fix up SDL volume implementation in sdl.c. Move sim volume calculation
code to pcm-sdl.c.

* Min trigger tresholds were based upon VOLUME_MIN for some reason.
These setting have nothing to do with playback volume. Since it is no
longer present, set these at -89dB which is the minimum peak meter
sensitivity setting.

* Fix an oversight in wm8758.c. I forgot to add the dB->register
conversion to audiohw_set_volume.

0c7b787398 Straighten out the mad twisted state of sound.c and related areas.
This is going right in since it's long overdue. If anything is goofed,
drop me a line or just tweak it yourself if you know what's wrong. :-)

Make HW/SW codec interface more uniform when emulating HW functionality
on SWCODEC for functions such as "audiohw_set_pitch". The firmware-to-
DSP plumbing is in firmware/drivers/audiohw-swcodec.c. "sound_XXX"
APIs are all in sound.c with none in DSP code any longer.

Reduce number of settings definitions needed by each codec by providing
defaults for common ones like balance, channels and SW tone controls.

Remove need for separate SIM code and tables and add virtual codec header
for hosted targets.

249bba03f1 Initial commit of the Samsung YP-R0 port.
This port is a hybrid native/RaaA port. It runs on a embedded linux system,
but is the only application. It therefore can implement lots of stuff that
native targets also implement, while leveraging the underlying linux kernel.

The port is quite advanced. User interface, audio playback, plugins work
mostly fine. Missing is e.g. power mangement and USB (see SamsungYPR0 wiki page).

Included in utils/ypr0tools are scripts and programs required to generate
a patched firmware. The patched firmware has the rootfs modified to load
Rockbox. It includes a early/safe USB mode.

This port needs a new toolchain, one that includes glibc headers and libraries.
rockboxdev.sh can generate it, but e.g. codesourcey and distro packages may
also work.

Most of the initial effort is done by Lorenzo Miori and others (on ABI),
including reverse engineering and patching of the original firmware,
initial drivers, and more. Big thanks to you.

240923a801 Rockbox as an application: Commit current Android port progress.
General state is: Rockbox is usable (plays music, saves configuration, touchscreen works too).
Problems:
 - Playing music in the background (i.e. when switching to another app) doesn't work reliably, but I'm working on that now.
 - no cabbiev2 (only some preliminary files for it), no other default theme.
 - screen flickers sometimes if the updates are too frequent
 - no multi screen apk/package
 - strange behavior when a phone call comes in

The java files (and the eclipse project) resides in android/, which is also supposed to be the build folder.
I've put a small README in there for instructions. There are some steps needed after the make part, which are described there,
and which eclipse mostly handles. But there ought to be some script/makefile rules which do that instead in the future.

31b5c471ae Rockbox as an application: Add an 320x240 SDL application target.
It still works mostly like the simulator. There's also some minor left overs from the sim, but it does not define SIMULATOR.
It installs into the current (build) dir, and you need to run it with '--root .' (because it looks for ./.rockbox and not ./simdisk/rockbox) as options. That's one of the few kludges left that should be resolved soon'ish.

3d0cee8abb - Move uisimulator/sdl/*.[ch] into the target tree, under firmware/target/hosted/sdl, uisdl.c is split up across button-sdl.c and system-sdl.c.
- Refactor the program startup. main() is now in main.c like on target, and the implicit application thread will now act as our main thread (previously a separate one was created for this in thread initialization).

This is part of Rockbox as an application and is the first step to make an application port from the uisimulator. In a further step the sim bits from the sdl build will be separated out.

80d0d15ca9 Gigabeat S: Fully enable access to hardware tone controls and 3-D effect feature. Under the hood, it's designated a hardware equalizer since it is one. Implement code framework for hardware EQ in general. Menu aspect is well abstracted and so the UI and strings can be changed around if taste doesn't quite suit. So far the emphasis is distinction of the UI labelling from the software EQ so that it's clear the settings are for a different thing.

f2f34881ec Remove pcm_mute() which has been unused since r19308
Remove audiohw_mute from header as well, and make this function static
to each driver (commented out when it was unused)
