ed1a3355de Add a Touchscreen Mode setting to switch between 3x3 grid and absolute point modes. Note that many screens have not yet been adjusted to absolute point mode, so use with caution.

3e67e3b1f0 Add a rockbox kernel thread for simulator specific tasks, and use that for calling the screendump function(s). Fixes screendump in simulators for backlight-less targets (Ondio), and reduces mixing of unrelated functionality a bit (screendump was called from backlight thread, triggered by a sim-only system wide event).

80cb3551eb Statusbar handling fixes. 
Fixes FS#9845 - %we/%wd wasnt working
WPS no longer resets the viewportmanger more than needed (was doing it twice/draw before)
screens can now enable/disable the statusbar easily ignoring the setting instead of needing special handling (fix for the radio screen coming soon)

minor glitch introduced in this commit... the statusbar in the WPS might disappear for a fraction of a second when it is entered, I need to track this down...

da76a34694 Use bus reset detection for all ARC OTG devices. Remove conflict from LV24020LP driver with some GPIO-by-number macros for PP502x. Start monitoring for USB stack once all core threads and queues are created otherwise queues will likely be registered after USB acks. Putting PP502x system_reboot in IRAM (unmapped, uncached) memory seems to help it work more consistently. Hopefully I got all the PP USB connect handlers in the right spot in irq_handler. If device seems unresponsive to cable, check there first.

8b9fdb540c redo how the statusbar updates are done. send the EVENT_GUI_ACTIONUPDATE event every time get_action() is called. The event wont be as realiable (timewise) as before, but seems to work better 
This also fixes FS#9761.
Also set the lcd font back to the ui font from the debug screens which use sysfont

e385ee18ce Decouple the statusbar drawing from the rest of the screen drawing. it is not drawn roughly 4x per second automatically. 
viewport_Set_defaults() will setup the given viewport with the correct "full screen" dimensions (so start at 0,0 if statusbars are disabled or 0,8 if they are enabled.)
All screens should keep the statusbar enabled, but if you really want to ignore the user setting you can disbaled it with viewportmanager_set_statusbar(false).

This commit also includes some menu/list viewport cleanups from kugel in FS#9603

2f8a0081c6 Apply FS#9500. This adds a storage_*() abstraction to replace ata_*(). To do that, it also introduces sd_*, nand_*, and mmc_*. 
This should be a good first step to allow multi-driver targets, like the Elio (ATA/SD), or the D2 (NAND/SD).

3c1e9ca558 Change screens memebers char_width, char_height and nb_lines to functions returning a calculated value. Fixes FS #9361 because the values were calculated based on sysfont, not the user selected font.

01729e7a18 FS#9281 Rename of splash functions. 
* Remove gui_splash()
* Rename gui_syncsplash() to splashf() and remove its voice 
capabilities.
* Rename the internal splash() to splash_internal() and introduce an 
externally visible splash() that handles simple splashing  without 
printf functionality e.g. splash(HZ, ID2P(LANG_FOO)); or splash(HZ, 
"foo"); if a LANG_* id is passed it will be voiced.
* Adjust all places that called gui_syncsplash() to use the correct 
variant from above.
* Export both new functions to plugins and adjust places calling 
rb->splash() to use the correct variant so that we now have naming 
consistency between the core and plugins.
* Fix one latent bug that would cause my sim to crash with the above 
changes and correct P2STR and P2ID macros, thanks to pondlife.

cea07eb2a4 Fix freezing of some builds on PP5002. The PP5002 needs the not-sleep-at 0xNNNNNNN0-addresses fix everywhere when caching is enabled, not only in core_sleep(). Introduced a pair of inline functions to sleep and wake cores on PP for consistency.

5b5a626bb6 Setup the touchpads to have two modes - stylus and button - and set them in button mode by default. 
in button mode the touchpad is split into a 3x3 grid for 9 seperate buttons which can be used by the action system like real buttons.
Unify the keymap file for the touchpads in button mode. the target keymap file only needs to worry about real buttons.
(As these ports mature each screen will need to be fixed seperatly to be able to use stylus mode (the lists can already but don't change mode just yet.)

27cf677339 Add a complete priority inheritance implementation to the scheduler (all mutex ownership and queue_send calls are inheritable). Priorities are differential so that dispatch depends on the runnable range of priorities. Codec priority can therefore be raised in small steps (pcmbuf updated to enable). Simplify the kernel functions to ease implementation and use the same kernel.c for both sim and target (I'm tired of maintaining two ;_). 1) Not sure if a minor audio break at first buffering issue will exist on large-sector disks (the main mutex speed issue was genuinely resolved earlier). At this point it's best dealt with at the buffering level. It seems a larger filechunk could be used again. 2) Perhaps 64-bit sims will have some minor issues (finicky) but a backroll of the code of concern there is a 5-minute job. All kernel objects become incompatible so a full rebuild and update is needed.

6f05899f42 don't do early usb detection on device with software stack. This doesn't work properly when booting while the device is plugged in to a power-only USB cable, and on sansa the microSD slot doesn't work here.

054447f9e6 Commit FS#8379 by Andree Buschmann. Disables much of the remaining unneeded hardware on PP50xx targets (Ipods, Sansa, H10s, etc) resulting in a large savings in power and consequent increase in battery life. Results vary from target to target and from codec to codec, but we now approach the OF runtime on several PP devices. For now, leave base CPU clock at 30MHz, although further savings is possible with some codecs if clock is reduced. Additionally, fix battery capacity on c200 and use my measurements to improve runtime estimation for Sandisk targets.

1672350378 FS #7691 - improved USB detection on PP devices. This patch modifies the target-tree function usb_detect() on all targets from bool to int, returning USB_INSERTED or USB_EXTRACTED instead of true or false. This was done to enable the PP usb_detect() to check for USB_POWER (either a connection to a USB wall charger, or the user holding "charge mode" button) and return that as a third value.

916a563fca Disable voicing of the database commit splash on hwcodec. It doesn't work anyway as the database commit takes the audio buffer, and trying it breaks voice afterwards until reboot.

1) Introduces apps/features.txt that controls which strings are included 
for each target based on defines.
2) .lng and .voice files are now target specific and the format versions 
of both these file types have been bumped, which means that new voice 
files are needed. 
3) Use the 'features' mechanism to exclude strings for targets that 
didn't use them.
4) Delete unused and deprecated and duplicated strings, sort strings in 
english.lang

Some string IDs were changed so translations will be slightly worse than 
before.

8a1fd8c686 Commit FS#6929 - Gigabeat bootloader improvements by Barry Wardell and myself. This build fixes the problems seen with the latest builds on the Gigabeat X. Added View IO Ports under the Debug menu for the Gigabeat. Make sure you grab the latest bootloader from the Wiki as the old bootloader will not work properly with new builds.

754d9195f7 explicitly set *loaded_ok = false; when given "" for a filename. 
remove icon_init from the startup sequence, its not dependant on filetypes_init anymore,settings_apply calls the icons_init (causes the bmp's to only be read once on boot instead of twice)

21165a3f3d Recode filetypes.c to remove its need for a static string buffer. 
Functional changes:
- filetypes.c handles the open with menu now instead of onplay.c
- automatic plugin registration no longer works (did anyone know about you could do this?)

82f9056988 Dual core support for PP502x players (iPod G4 and later, iriver h10, Sansa - iPod G3 will be coming soon.) This allows threads to be run on either core provided that all communications between the cores is done using uncached memory. There should be no significant change in battery life from doing this. Documentation (on the RockboxKernel wiki page) will follow shortly.

9f4bd8712f Cuesheet support by Jonathan Gordon and me (FS #6460). 
Everytime an audio file is loaded, a cue file with the same name is searched for. A setting 
allows to disable this (default is off). Cuesheet files can also be viewed in the file browser.

228d62dd18 Split the system status variables out of global_settings and put them into a new struct global_status. Use status_save() if these need 
saving.

df0dc2262e FS#6096. Recording on PortalPlayer targets (H10, iPod Video, iPod 4g, iPod Color, iPod Nano). 
* Fix failed compile of enc_config.c when HAVE_MPEG2_SAMPR is not defined.
* Fix bug in AIFF encoder header creation on little endian targets.
* Add recording screen keymaps for H10 and iPod.
* Move pcm_playback PP specific code to target tree.
* Add recording code to wmcodec drivers.
* Add pcm_record code.

Some problems still remain:
* Playback doesn't work after recording until Rockbox is restarted.
* Gain control not implemented.
* Only 16-bit/44KHz for now. The hardware should be capable of up to 24-bit/96KHz.
* Line-in recording not tested on H10.

3e24665c41 Fix settings not saving to disk correctly, (fixes FS#6408) 
Stop playback.c requesting a rebuffer while not playing
Shutting down from inside the menu will now save settings to disk, and
entering the main menu will not force a setting save unless a setting
actually changes

0f5cb94aa4 Big Patch adds primarily: Samplerate and format selection to recording for SWCODEC. Supprort for samplerates changing in playback (just goes with the recording part inseparably). Samplerates to all encoders. Encoders can be configured individually on a menu specific to the encoder in the recording menu. File creation is delayed until flush time to reduce spinups when splitting. Misc: statusbar icons for numbers are individual digits to display any number. Audio buffer was rearranged to maximize memory available to recording and properly reinitialized when trashed. ColdFire PCM stuff moved to target tree to avoid a complicated mess when adding samplerate switching. Some needed API changes and to neaten up growing gap between hardware and software codecs.

0b22795e26 adds ata_idle_notify system which allows callbacks in apps/ to be called 
when the hard disk is idle but spinning, and just before shutting down.
on SWCODEC targets with > 8MB RAM the playback engine will try to
refill the buffer if it is less than 75% full while the disk is spinning
(temporarily disabled on the nano)

6488177d05 Init voice before audio because audio needs to know the voice buffer size. Seems to fix the occasional freeze at startup (if voice is used), and also seems to fix voice eating itself after playback.

5009c9c1b8 Split the HAVE_RTC define into HAVE_RTC, HAVE_RTC_RAM and CONFIG_RTC - in preparation for targets (H300, iPod) which have a clock (HAVE_RTC) but no general purpose RAM available for settings data (HAVE_RTC_RAM). CONFIG_RTC is used to specify the low-level driver required.

b51f7dfc9b Backlight handling: * Added 'Caption Backlight' and 'Backlight On When Charging' for the iriver remote LCD. * Enabled the backlight code for the simulator, and prepared backlight simulation. It's only a stub atm, writing messages to the console window. * Added tick task handling to the simulators for this to work. * Code cleanup in backlight.c, less dead code.

bccfae0a58 Fixed crash with early USB. The USB screen already uses some of the new GUI code, so we have to init before. Fixed problem with gui_syncstatusbar_init() drawing the status bar(s) right away.

e6e5496535 iRiver: Initial support for wav-recording in recording menu. Supports mic/line-in (and radio), monitor mode, time-splitting (and byte-splitting), pause/resume etc. Things todo: Prerecording, peakmeter (should be simple), frequency other than 44.1 kHz, etc..

62634a323e iriver: audio_init really needs to be called after playlist and tree init; delay initial application of buffer margin and crossfade to solve the settings dependency. This should fix the problem with large values in 'Max files in dir browser'.

ab78b04680 Implemented directory caching. No more waiting for disk to spin up while 
browsing when cache is enabled (system -> disk -> enable directory
cache). Cache building on boot is transparent except the first boot.

f090dc3829 Crossfade (and pcm buffer size) length is now configurable. 
Implemented anti-skip buffer setting for iriver also. Settings block
bumped up, PLEASE SAVE YOUR SETTINGS BEFORE UPGRADING.
